Emerging Advisors Network

Professional advisors play a key role in The San Francisco Foundation’s ability to serve the people of our region. We appreciate and depend on the partnerships we have with advisors who advance philanthropy and encourage charitable giving across the Bay Area. We, in turn, are here to be a resource to advisors by offering support and solutions for client service and opportunities to learn about the region’s most pressing issues.

Our Emerging Advisors Network (EAN) is a group of professional advisors within the first ten years of their careers. Individuals come from a variety of disciplines including attorneys, accountants, financial planners, investment and wealth managers and insurance professionals. The group convenes to exchange ideas and information about philanthropy in the Bay Area. Emerging Advisors Network members develop a deeper understanding of philanthropy and the role it can play in their professional practices, as well as in life in the region.

The Emerging Advisors Network officially kicked-off in January 2017.

Our Goals

  • Provide a forum for members to network professionally
  • Highlight the importance and role that philanthropy plays in advising clients
  • Help members become more informed residents and citizens of the Bay Area

Network Opportunities

The San Francisco Foundation helps facilitate programs for members to attend and participate:

  • Education and networking events
  • Site visits to nonprofits and communities around the Bay Area
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Introductions to organizations that are making a difference in the Bay Area

Becoming a Member

Professional Advisors who are in the first ten years of their careers and who counsel clients on philanthropic, estate and financial planning can join the network by completing and submitting a membership form.

The Foundation is currently accepting members throughout the year, and there are no terms (or term limits) associated with membership at this time. Currently, there are no caps on the number of professionals from a particular firm or industry.

Expectations of Membership

Member are highly encouraged to:

  • Attend as many gatherings, briefings and events as possible (approximately 4-5 this year)
  • Provide feedback, suggestions and new ideas to The San Francisco Foundation
  • Share experiences with others in your firm and profession
  • Consider the role of philanthropy in your professional practice

Professional advisors within the first ten years of their careers who primarily counsel clients on philanthropic, estate and financial planning are welcome to join. Upon receipt of a completed membership form, the foundation will confirm membership status.

Are there term limits for members?
There are no terms or term limits associated with membership at this time.

Are there caps on industry representation?
There are no caps on the number of professionals from a particular firm or industry at this time.

Is there any cost?
There is no cost associated with being a member.
