Education

We invest in change through education because every child deserves every opportunity to reach his or her potential. When schools are a center of community, we transform the Bay Area’s potential in economy, health and a thriving community.
Please note: Education is no longer its own Program Area and is being reviewed as part of our strategic planning process.  Please check back after June 1, 2016 for more information or contact the Program Director or Program Officer with whom you worked on previous grants.
Wraparound Partnerships

Kids who participate in wraparound school partnerships typically improve their attendance rates, homework completion, and grade point average by 15%.
Parent Support

The three most accurate predictors of students’ achievement are 1) a home environment that supports learning; 2) families communicating high and reasonable expectations; and 3) family involvement in their children’s schools.
Early Childhood Programs

Girls who attend preschool are 2.5 times more likely to graduate high school than those who do not.
Community As Classroom

Children and youth who participate in community-based mentorships and apprenticeships have 20% higher high school graduation and college-going rates.
