In the face of the economic downturn, The San Francisco Foundation has been taking the needed steps to fund recession recovery throughout the Bay Area, supporting our partners in safety net, job training and creation, and foreclosure response and neighborhood preservation. Our strategy emphasizes collaboration with funders, nonprofit organizations, government, and the business sector to leverage resources for those most in need during these tough economic times to lead a collective effort to restore and build economic opportunity for years to come.
The Safety Net grantmaking program supports organizations meeting the immediate needs of individuals and families most impacted by the recession.
Job Training and Creation
The Job Training and Creation grantmaking program supports efforts to connect low-income, low-skilled workers to training and employment opportunities that offer family-sustaining wages and career advancement opportunities.
Foreclosure Response and Neighborhood Preservation
The Foreclosure Response and Neighborhood Preservation grantmaking program supports projects and initiatives that help families avoid displacement, protect family and community assets, and preserve existing housing and stabilize neighborhoods.
