Artadia Award In the Visual Arts
Since 2005, The San Francisco Foundation has worked in partnership with the national arts funder, Artadia to support outstanding Bay Area artists. Artadia provides visual art awards in seven U.S. cities, including San Francisco (which covers the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Mateo). In their 2013 cycle, Artadia received 430 applications and named ten finalists and gave four cash awards. The San Francisco Foundation funds one of the four cash awards. The $15,000 award is given to one standout artist from among the ten finalists. Winning artists are introduced to curators and gallerists through studio visits, events, and meetings, and are given opportunities to participate in exchange exhibitions held in the other cities where Artadia is active.
The application process is open once every two years. Artists may apply for the awards through the Artadia website. The San Francisco Foundation does administer not this award. Interested applicants should apply through Artadia.
