Strategic Learning & Evaluation Associate
Why do you do what you do?
I’m a first-generation American. After my parents immigrated to the Bay Area from Egypt and Mexico, a number of nonprofit organizations helped them navigate complex government systems and establish their lives here. As a result, I’ve always been interested in working for organizations that help communities live out their rights and full potential.
What drew you to the foundation?
Communities know their challenges best, and as a result, they also know the best ways to solve those challenges. I wanted to work at SFF because we invest in communities. We follow their lead in order to determine how best to support them.
How would you describe your role?
I analyze data to tell a story about which communities we support and why. We use lessons from those stories to inform our actions and keep us accountable to our mission. I also support staff as we continue to learn about the impact we want to make in the Bay Area.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
I conduct pro-bono program evaluations for nonprofits organizations. Most recently, I conducted an evaluaton for the Latino Leadership Alliance’s mentorship work.
