Esailama G. Artry-Diouf, PhD
Senior Program Officer, Place Pathway
Why do you do what you do?
A society is nothing without its arts and culture. My life’s work is always because of and pays homage to those revolutionary Bay Area artists who stood on the front lines of civil and human rights movements and dared to reimagine equity, access, engagement, and hope in this native land we call home.
What drew you to the foundation?
Former Place Pathway Director Landon Williams and his vision for equity drew me to San Francisco Foundation, yet it was the village of the foundation staff who sincerely want to see and shape a thriving Bay Area that inspired me to stay.
How would you describe your role?
In collaboration with a network of staff at the foundation, I oversee arts and culture partnerships and projects that align with the overall mission and equity agenda of the foundation.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
Currently, teaching cooking and dance classes to youth in my spare time.
