Bay Area Essential Workers Agenda Coalition
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed the stark contradiction of hailing “essential workers” as the backbones of our communities yet not adequately protecting them from the risks and struggles they continue to endure. Essential workers know what is needed for a true economic recovery in our communities. The Bay Area Essential Workers Agenda Coalition is a collective of seven grassroots worker centers representing immigrant working people and working people of color. The San Francisco Foundation and ReWork the Bay supported the coalition to build a four-point platform lifting up the voices of low-wage workers. This is a unique moment to center their leadership toward real solutions.
