The stage is now set. The next governor of California will inherit a state of promise and profound challenges.
Families are stretched thin by housing, healthcare and childcare costs. Climate disasters are wreaking havoc on communities with increasing frequency and force. Technological disruption is moving fast and largely unchecked. And trust in public institutions–the foundation of effective governance–continues to erode.
[…] As California’s largest population group, Latinos are projected to make up about 40% of the population through 2070. Latino workers represent 39% of California’s workforce, generating more than $1 trillion in annual economic output. More than half of California’s children are Latino.
