San Francisco Chronicle: Democratic groups are Trump’s latest target. Will they fight back?
Universities folded. Broadcast media folded. Law firms folded. But there’s a glimmer of hope that the next target on President Donald Trump’s list — left-leaning philanthropic groups — is ready to fight.
For months, more than 70 nonprofit organizations have been communicating about how to respond in the face of anticipated attacks from the administration, said Glen Galaich, CEO of the San Francisco-based Stupski Foundation, which has given away roughly $600 million over the past decade and intends to spend down its endowment by the end of next year.
[…] “In the face of efforts to spread fear throughout the nonprofit sector, major donors have a responsibility now to prepare and act accordingly as a united front, fighting back with our collective voices and resources, and standing strong in defense of the sector’s mission,” Fred Blackwell, CEO of the San Francisco Foundation, told me Friday in a written statement.
