Nicole LaPorte
Program Associate, Strategic Learning and Evaluation
Why do you do what you do?
I am very passionate about engaging in the fight against issues related to equity and inclusion. I have gained extensive experience in this area, from strategizing with local non-profit organizations in the Bay Area, to working alongside marginalized communities in Latin America and Southeast Asia. I believe positive change is born out of listening to and being led by those that are most affected by today’s challenges, and by working together to seek its solutions.
What drew you to the foundation?
The San Francisco Foundation’s powerful mission to promote racial equity and economic inclusion is what initially attracted my aligned interests to its work. The opportunity to advance this objective in my own backyard is what motivated me to get involved myself.
How would you describe your role?
My role supports the Strategic Learning and Evaluation program in ensuring that we are sharing learning skills amongst the foundation and reaching our measured goals of impact within the communities that we serve.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
I am a candidate for the Masters in Migration program at the University of San Francisco, which allows me to collaborate on projects that support immigrant communities in the local region. I am currently working on a two-year report through the foundation that aims to seek progressive policy changes to combat migration related issues in the Bay Area.
