In working with our grantees, partners, and donors, we are reimagining the potential for a community foundation to deliver on its mission. And for us, that includes working to reverse the trajectory of inequality and build a more equitable, inclusive region.
Two years after announcing the equity agenda to advance racial equity and economic inclusion, we are sharing the foundation’s journey and the lessons learned. We commissioned author Fran Smith to chronicle our journey. This is the story of how we are working to transform the foundation to meet a defining challenge of our time and our region: advancing racial equity and economic inclusion. We are one of a growing number of foundations across the nation looking for better ways to tackle equity. Though The San Francisco Foundation is at an early stage in this journey, we want to share some of what we have done, how we have changed, and what we have learned so far. For those who wish to take a deeper dive into how we created our equity agenda, we also have created a detailed account of our journey in a full report.
