Field of Interest Funds

Powering the promise of the Bay, together.

By contributing to one of SFF’s field of interest funds, you tap into the power of collective giving while supporting what matters to you most. These funds provide flexible grantmaking support to organizations advancing the work you care about. The team of experts at SFF will make grants from these funds to local nonprofits, so together we can fulfill the promise of the Bay Area.

Field of Interest Funds

Advancing Racial Equity Fund

Racial equity and economic inclusion are SFF’s north star. This fund supports criminal justice reform, reparations work, economic security & wealth building, and health & wellness for communities of color across the region.

Supporting Culturally Vibrant Communities Fund

Arts & culture institutions are critical to the fabric of the community, and through this fund, together we can ensure their sustainability and resiliency. This fund will support nonprofits in the arts & culture sector throughout the Bay Area.

Ensuring an Environmentally Sustainable Bay Area Fund

Environmental equity, a changing climate, and its impacts on the region will continue to affect all who call the Bay Area home. Through this fund, together we can support environmental justice and education, centering our communities most vulnerable to climate change.

Ensuring Housing for All Fund

One of the most pressing issues facing the Bay Area at this current moment, this fund will help SFF continue to scale our impact in housing and homelessness.

Empowering Community Voices for a Stronger Democracy Fund

With democracy under attack, we must act now to ensure that all voices in our community are empowered. No matter the population – women, immigrant communities, LGBTQ2SIA+, and many others – supporting this fund ensures that all members of our society in the Bay Area can exercise their political voice.

Creating Opportunities Through Education Fund

Whether through traditional education pathways or workforce development programs, this fund provides support for nonprofits that are striving to provide quality education and opportunities for all.

Leading for a Stronger Bay Area Fund

The Bay Area Leads fund provides flexible support for SFF to harness the power of our community to address the most pressing issues of our time. Through this fund, SFF is able to launch innovative initiatives, convene stakeholders to address key issues like affordable housing, and do the work to change systems at scale.

How do field of interest funds work?

You can contribute to one or more field of interest funds in two ways: either by making a gift for current use, or by including a fund in your legacy plan. Legacy field of interest funds are part of SFF’s endowment. Each year, our expert team of grantmakers will distribute grants to nonprofits in the designated areas.

As a donor to a field of interest fund, you will receive updates on the nonprofits supported by the fund and have opportunities to engage with other donors who share your philanthropic interests.
