We are saddened to learn that Brooks Walker Jr., who served on SFF’s Board of Trustees from 1970-1980, passed away last month at the age of 96. Brooks was an influential business and civic leader and a third-generation Californian who was born in Oakland.
A veteran who served as a Navy pilot during the Korean War, Brooks went on to become CEO of United States Leasing International, which specialized in structuring large corporate lease deals. As a committed civic leader, he not only gave his time and talent to the San Francisco Foundation, but also to numerous nonprofit organizations, including Planned Parenthood, Walker Art Center, Ft Mason Foundation, SF Opera, SF MOMA, and the Nuclear Freeze Campaign.
