SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The San Francisco Foundation (SFF) has promoted Rachel Benditt to Senior Director of Communications and Brand. In this role, Rachel will continue to advance the foundation’s mission of advancing racial equity and economic inclusion through her work in strategic communications, narrative shift, and internal capacity building.

Rachel joined the foundation in 2019 as a Senior Communications Officer focused on SFF’s housing work and its multi-partner housing policy collaborative, The Partnership for the Bay’s Future. In her years at SFF, Rachel has supported all aspects of the foundation’s work, from advocacy and capacity building to strategic planning and internal communications.

“All people deserve to live in a good home, make a comfortable living, and contribute to vibrant communities,” she said. “The San Francisco Foundation works to make that a reality in the Bay Area, and I am honored to bring my talents and experience to support this important work.”

Throughout her career, Rachel has applied her background in behavior change and psycholinguistics to equity and social justice causes. Before joining SFF, Benditt worked in communications and marketing for Renew Financial, a financial startup democratizing access to clean energy, and NatureBridge and Camp Fire Minnesota, both outdoor education nonprofits.

Rachel holds a master’s in journalism and mass communication from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a BA from Carleton College. She lives, cooks, gardens, and explores nature in San Francisco.
