Why do you do what you do?
I love being behind the scenes and making things happen. Finding ways to improve processes, and being more efficient in our approach, is what I thrive on.
What drew you to the foundation?
The ability of the San Francisco Foundation to meet the needs of the community directly is such an inspiration. When donors see that their gifts make a difference in their communities, it inspires others to give, and I’m honored to be a part of an organization that responds to the changing needs of the Bay Area.
How would you describe your role?
I help make sure our CEO is where he needs to be, is meeting with who he needs to meet, and is tackling the strategic and leadership needs of our organization.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by my 2 daughters, by my communities (both present and past) and by the journey of my immigrant parents. I have been involved with the college program inside San Quentin State Prison for many years, and volunteer there on a weekly basis. I have been volunteering at my local voting sites for years as well, usually as the only person who speaks Spanish, which has been helpful on many occasions. I also find ways to volunteer with my kids’ schools whenever possible.
