Bianca Juarros
Associate Initiative Officer, Great Communities Collaborative
Why do you do what you do?
My commitment to environmental sustainability and racial equity motivates me to seek out opportunities where I can assist in fostering resilient, inclusive, and vibrant communities. By utilizing my experience in urban planning and environmental policy within an organization that shares my values, I aspire to contribute towards building a world where all people can thrive.
What drew you to the foundation?
I was attracted to the San Francisco Foundation due to its emphasis on racial equity in addressing complex and multifaceted issues. My decision to join the Great Communities Collaborative stems from the initiative’s strong alignment with my background in urban and environmental policy and planning. Additionally, I am motivated by the opportunity to make a significant impact in the Bay Area, a place I call home.
How would you describe your role?
I work within the Great Communities Collaborative—an initiative of the philanthropic organization, The San Francisco Foundation—which provides grants to and acts as a community partner for nonprofits and regional multisector collaboratives in the nine Bay Area county region to address issues related to housing, transportation, land use, and climate resilience through a racial equity and economic inclusion lens.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the promise of a future that is just, sustainable, and joyful. My incredible colleagues, who diligently work towards this goal every day, also inspire me. Additionally, the little ones in my family motivate me to strive for a better future.
