Why do you do what you do?
I do what I do because I’m driven forward by a desire to improve the living conditions of people who look like me. We all deserve to live our best life!
What drew you to the foundation?
I was drawn to SFF’s unapologetic equity agenda that felt necessary to show up for community right now. My career has always centered health equity for BIPOC communities and this role and organization were the perfect opportunity to contribute to that effort.
How would you describe your role?
Strategic Learning & Evaluation aim to answer the big questions like, “Did we achieve the goals we set out to achieve? Is this money making the change we want to see to improve life for current and future generations? How can we do that better?”
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by my parents, immigrants from Jamacia, that have lived out community advocacy and perseverance my entire life, even before I knew the terms to describe it. I’m also inspired by leaders and changemakers who “do it scared” and act with courage even when its challenging or difficult.
