Why do you do what you do?
My family, friends, and community have shaped the person I am today and have given me many opportunities and joyful life experiences. When starting my professional journey, I wanted to find a path that would allow me to help vulnerable communities have access to those same opportunities. This line of work has shown me the importance that philanthropy, advocacy, and policy have in creating long-lasting positive impact in people’s lives.
What drew you to the foundation?
I was drawn to the foundation’s commitment to equity, economic and social justice, and its mission to improve the quality of life of people in the Bay Area. My experience has shown me that effective philanthropy and mobilization are often best done by organizations that are rooted in the communities they serve and SFF is doing just that by funding and working alongside grassroots organizations.
How would you describe your role?
I’m a resource for donors who need guidance to achieve their philanthropic goals. I came to philanthropy in a stroke of serendipity and it has changed the way I see the world. I love to connect with individuals who are on their philanthropic journeys and want to make an impact in their communities.
