Nicole Kyauk
Senior Director, Philanthropic Services
Why do you do what you do?
As the daughter of immigrants, I have dedicated my career to impact the trajectories of individuals adversely affected by inequitable systems and policies. I’m committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of race or socioeconomic status.
What drew you to the foundation?
I’ve had the privilege of partnering with SFF’s staff for many years and have been inspired by their dedication. I was also inspired by the foundation’s leadership and reputation of building strong relationships that help build a thriving Bay Area.
How would you describe your role?
I work with individuals and families who care about making a difference in their community. I help them develop and implement their philanthropic investment strategies that align with their values and impact they’d like to see in the world. I offer advice on grant recommendations and effective giving, facilitate family meetings, and help involve the next generation of family members in the joys of charitable giving.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
I serve on the national board of Advisors in Philanthropy, the member engagement committee for Northern California Grantmakers, and am a member of a giving circle that invests that invests in women and girls in Oakland. I am a proud inductee in the Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame.
