Sarah Abbe Taylor
Associate Director, Program Related Investments
Why do you do what you do? What drew you to the foundation?
My career has centered on providing capital to community-based organizations and low-wealth entrepreneurs — working at the intersection of social impact and investing. At the foundation, I bring my experience and passion to our Bay Area Community Impact Fund program — making the Bay Area stronger by investing in organizations and communities.
How would you describe your role?
In my role as Senior PRI officer, I help the foundation make Program-Related Investments (PRIs) in organizations and funds that benefit low-wealth individuals, families, businesses, and communities in the Bay Area. Filling critical financing gaps, our capital helps create affordable housing and quality jobs for those priced out of homes or left out of the financial mainstream. I perform due diligence on new investments to ensure credit quality and impact, closely monitor our PRI portfolio, and report results to our PRI Committee, staff, and donors.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
My daughter and I make bagged lunches for St. Vincent’s de Paul Society in San Rafael. During COVID, St. Vincent’s converted its free lunch program to take-away bagged lunches. My family, along with 100’s of volunteers, make bagged lunches each week to feed Marin County’s hungry and unhoused folks.
