Sayron Stokes
Senior Assistant, FAITHS and Power Team
Why do you do what you do?
I grew up as part of big communities in Oakland and New York. Advocating for community is part of me and part of my spirit. I want to give back to my community and make sure that everyone has a fair chance at having what they desire, whether that’s a home or financial stability.
What drew you to the foundation?
After working in a law firm and a fashion company, I realized that those industries weren’t a good fit for me. San Francisco Foundation’s mission to advance racial and economic equity in the Bay Area really resonates with me. I’m learning so much here and loving it. This is where I want to be, and this is what I want to be doing.
How would you describe your role?
My role is to ensure that our programs and resources are easily accessible and readily available to community leaders and anyone in the community seeking assistance.
Are you involved in any volunteer activities?
I volunteer with my church by organizing events for kids, and I conduct scholarship interviews for the Black Alumni Association at my alma mater, UCLA.
