Why do you do what you do?
My interest in accounting began in college as I have always been good at working with numbers and loved solving problems. My job allows me to work with complex financial documents, which gives me the opportunity to solve problems.
What drew you to the foundation?
One thing that drew me to the foundation is the commitment to create an environment or society where everyone has not just equal rights, but equal opportunities as well. Being a person of color and an immigrant, I have always felt at a disadvantage in terms of obtaining higher education and pursuing a career of choice. Working at the foundation allows me to do my part in making our society a more balanced society.
How would you describe your role?
My role at the foundation is to keep a record of any financial activity and answer questions staff might have regarding the finances of the foundation. I also play a part in ensuring grantees are paid in a timely manner.
