Equity Grants Open Cycle

Equity Grants Open Cycle

Update on our Equity Grants Open Cycle

Both COVID-19 and the growing call for racial justice continue to impact the nonprofit sector. The past several years have underscored our collective work to advance racial equity and economic inclusion as more important than ever. San Francisco Foundation has an increased responsibility to provide sufficient and sustained funding to help our existing equity grantees weather these turbulent times.

As such, we have made the difficult decision not to offer and reopen our Equity Grants Open Cycle. This decision allows us to deepen our relationship with current grant partners through larger, multi-year general support grants. We also plan to continue streamlining our grantmaking processes, reducing the burden on applicants and grantees, and most importantly, listening to and learning from the community. For our last open cycle in 2020, we proudly supported 85 organizations totaling $5.7 million in grants. See our 2020 Equity Grants Open Cycle grantees.

As a community foundation, we remain committed to keeping our doors open to local nonprofits. We continue to offer other open funding opportunities, host community listening sessions and convenings, and offer other resources for the nonprofit community. To get updates on these events, please follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter, or sign up for SFF email updates.

While our office continues working remotely, we remain eager to meet new organizations and leaders, deepen our relationships with existing grantees, and continue to listen and learn from the community. If you want to learn more about our grantmaking programs, seek advice on whether your work is a fit for our grants, or share an update with us, please email programs[at]sff.org.
